EVGA has shown at CES 2019 its first dedicated sound card, the Nu Audio. The brand already had a presence in sectors such as motherboards, power supplies, graphics cards, boxes, keyboards… and now it is expanding with this new product that promises great features.

EVGA intends to assault the high range with its Nu Audio

Regarding its components, this PCIe sound card has an XMOX xCore-200 as DSP (Digital Signal Processor), a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) AKM AK4493 and an ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) AKM AK5572, in addition to a ADC for Cirrus Logic CS53456 microphone input, ADI OP275 and AD8056 op amps on the outputs, and a Texas Instruments TPS7A33 voltage controller. As we have investigated, these are all premium range components that should offer an excellent sound experience.

On the other hand, the card has external power via SATA and outputs both by analog stereo and by a digital optical output with 5.1 channels. The offered output connectors are: a 6.3mm jack (output), two 3.5mm jacks (input and output), and an optical output (Toslink).

The specifications are completed with a signal dynamics of 123 dB for the output and 121 dB for the input, the possibility of playback and recording in 32bit at 384kHz or 24bit at 192kHz stereo, and a headphone jack resistance of between 16 and 600 ohms.

The EVGA Nu Audio has been designed in part by Audio Note, a company that defines itself as “the creators of the best home audio equipment you can buy” and “the largest European manufacturer of high-performance audio”

Apparently, part of EVGA's interest in creating this sound card is that Andrew Han, one of the founders of the company, is a fan of ultra-high-end audio and has a private collection of “unmatched audio products."

We do not know the price and availability date of this product, but hopefully they will be released to the market at a competitive price.
