Evga could have reduced the quality of the b3 supernova

Shilka of Overclock.net posted late last month about a protection failure of EVGA's SuperNova B3 power supplies, specifically the 450 and 850 W models. This adds to the problem suffered by Tom's Hardware, one of whose review units ended up creating fireworks.
Possible problems with the EVGA SuperNova B3
Later it emerged that the sample provided by EVGA to JonnyGuru was manufactured by Super Flower, whose Leadex platform is well known for its performance and high quality. Tom's Hardware and TechPowerUp bought their sample at a point of sale and the latter's manufacturing had been outsourced to RSY with a decrease in build quality compared to Super Flower. It is still unclear whether Super Flower outsourced its production, or whether EVGA is using multiple switched vendors or manufacturers. Regardless of what the case may be, PSUs available in stores could be of lower quality compared to what was reviewed on JonnyGuru, arguably the most influential review site for power supplies.
The following statement was made by EVGA to Legitreviews
"EVGA stands behind its full line of products, and the 5-year warranty on every B3 power supply demonstrates the brand's confidence in the quality and safety of every product shipped. If anyone has any questions or concerns to put on Contact EVGA Customer Service and should a replacement unit be required EVGA will support free Advanced RMA on all EVGA SuperNOVA B3 power supplies. Furthermore, the EVGA SuperNOVA B3 review samples, as well as the production, were built in the same qualified facility. ”

EVGA has a responsibility to ensure that its products remain consistent in characteristics and performance across different production lines. The company has an excellent reputation for customer service, but its statement includes controversial elements such as "rare cases" when "a replacement unit is needed" plus there is no mention of coverage of hardware damaged by a malfunctioning PSU..
The SuperNova B3 line has been on the market for about six months so there are plenty of units that can pose a potential hazard. On the other hand, these could be isolated cases, as one would expect other reports of problems that have emerged in the past six months.
