Evga presents the gtx 1080 ftw2 with a new cooling system
Table of contents:
The EVGA GTX 1080 FTW models did not have a very good reputation for overheating problems, a headache that forced EVGA to offer users 'thermal pads' to control the temperature of these models. The arrival of the FTW2 models seems to solve these problems.
GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 unveiled at CES
The Californian company will try again and during the CES presented its new FTW2 cooling, which was equipped in the GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2, which will use a new, much more efficient cooling system to control the temperature of the most demanding graphics.
The new cooling system EVGA will use is codenamed iCX, which will replace the ACX 3.0 that gave the company so many headaches late last year with the FTW models.
Not much more details are known about the new cooling of these models but EVGA claims to be testing it thoroughly to avoid overheating problems. Seen the GTX 1080 FTW2 at CES, it seems that the company is doing a good job in this regard, passing the most demanding stress tests.
Unfortunately the presentation at CES has only been limited to that and they do not give details about the improvements in the GTX 1080 FTW2 model with respect to the previous versions (frequencies) and they do not give an approximate date of when we will see it in stores. Even so, we should not take long to see these new EVGA models, now if they are 'fresher' than before.
