The first review of the EVGA SR-3 DARK motherboard was released yesterday by Finnish overclocker Juhani Luumi, who has given us a more detailed look at EVGA's LGA 3647 motherboard that is designed for the Xeon W-3175X processor from 28-core Intel.

EVGA SR-3 DARK is used to break world records at 3DMark

The EVGA SR-3 DARK is one of three motherboards that can support Intel's only HEDT chip for workstations, the Xeon W-3175X. The first time we saw this motherboard was at Computex 2019, but EVGA has finished the final design of the SR-3 DARK and is slated for launch on New Year's Eve.

Speaking of specs, the EVGA SR-3 uses an inverted LGA 3647 socket, much like EVGA's Z390 DARK motherboard. The motherboard is surrounded by 6 SMT DIMM slots, allowing for high frequency overclocking and low RAM latency.

The EVGA SR-3 DARK is also currently the only board that offers a water block on top of VRMs and PCHs that allows users to maximize cooling potential through the use of liquid cooling. The entire water block runs from the top and bottom of the plate, with great aesthetics that can be further improved with the choice of colored liquids. The motherboard doesn't have any RGB LEDs, which is a bonus for many high-end enthusiasts.

The board has broken some records with the most recent one from Kingpin, last month, which scored 20, 440 points in 3DMark TimeSpy with this optimized motherboard and a Xeon W-3175X that registered a frequency of 5.78 GHz in the 28 cores of the LN2 cooling with a 1, 475V voltage supply. The processor scored a physical score of 19, 739 points, while the graphics score was 20, 570 points for all four GTX 1080 Ti KINGPIN graphics cards.

The board will be priced very high compared to other standard models and even with the new TRX40 motherboards for the AMD Ryzen Threadripper line, but compared to the ASUS and Gigabyte, the EVGA SR-3 DARK would still offer a much lower price, as The other two plates are priced at more than $ 2, 000 and are super hard to find. There are also rumors that Intel will drop the price of the Xeon W-3175X to $ 2, 000 or even less to match the 32 cores of the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X. We will keep you informed.
