Facebook sued for accessing private messages
Facebook is threatened by serious demands from its users, who affirm that this social network enters private messages in order to obtain more information from its users and thus provide them with advertising related to their "needs and tastes."
The legal action is that Facebook would try to monitor and accumulate the URL's sent through the private messages. The company excuses itself by saying that it uses this monitoring strategy to combat malware and child pornography through said social network, although its plaintiffs believe that it is also used for commercial purposes, to offer services and / or products that users see. '' interested ''.
The lawsuit was filed in a court in the city of California, they also add in the lawsuit that Facebook is thus violating the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of that country and the California Privacy Invasion Act.
The users responsible for said lawsuit did in-depth investigations, obtaining source codes from the social network and its engineers, but those investigations are still sealed in court and their results have not been released.
Last Wednesday the certificate of the case was presented in court and it was ruled out that there was monetary damage, this confirms that all the plaintiffs will not be able to obtain money at the end of the case. They can only wait for the court to order the suspension of link monitoring if it believes that Facebook is breaking a law.
This case has space in favor until next June 8 where it will be defined what will happen to the case and if Facebook will have a penalty on the facts. For the moment the case will continue to be investigated and we will soon have news about it.
