Fallout 76 will not be released on steam, it can only be purchased from the bethesda site
Table of contents:
Bethesda has officially confirmed that Fallout 76 will not be released on Steam, much to the surprise of many. The video game will be exclusive to the company's own portal, Bethesda.net.
Fallout 76 will not be released in the Valve store
Fallout 76 is one of this year's most anticipated games for good reason, and a beta version is expected before the game finally comes out in November. All those players who pre-order the game will have guaranteed access to this Beta, but they will not be able to do it from Steam, only from Bethesda.net.
Bethesda commented that those players who play the Beta version will not lose their progress and will move to the final version of Fallout 76.
Beta access will be granted first to Xbox One players, followed by other platforms. At this time, Bethesda has not revealed when the beta of the game will be released. This makes Fallout 76 BETA more like Early Access than a traditional Beta.
Why won't it be on Steam?
Bethesda has not communicated the reason for this decision, but it is easy to know some reasons. Publishing a game on Steam is not free and for every copy sold, part of the money goes to Valve. Apparently Bethesda is confident that Game 76 will be successful enough not to be dependent on Steam and that players will buy it, even if it doesn't come out in Valve's store.
Fallout 76 will be released on November 14 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. At Quakecon 2018, which begins on August 10, we should have more information on this upcoming game.
