Feelreal, a device that allows you to experience 'smells' in vr games

A company called Feelreal has just announced a system that allows users to experience smells in VR (Virtual Reality) applications and games.

A single Feelreal cartridge can hold 255 different odor types

By using chemicals "similar to those used in the food industry" , in theory, users with VR glasses can experience the smell of burnt rubber in a racing game, or garden roses, among many other things.

A single Feelreal cartridge can hold 255 different odor types, and also includes small heaters, coolers, and a vibrator to simulate other sensations. Skyrim VR, YouTube VR, Death Horizon, Beat Saber and "FeelReal Dreams" are some of the applications or games that they claim to support. The device would be compatible with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Playstation VR, Samsung Grear VR and Oculus Go.

The Feelreal page mentions that the device weighs 200 grams, works with Bluetootho Wi-Fi, and has a battery that lasts 4 hours, but does not mention the prices or the release date, at least, at the time of writing these lines.

Coming soon on Kickstarter

If we enter the official FeelReal site and want to pre-order, we are informed that there will soon be a Kickstarter for this device. Placing our name and email account, we will surely be notified as soon as it begins. This could happen at the beginning of the year, and although we still have to see the results on Kickstarter, we already know that they will come out in three colors, white, gray and black, and with support for most VR glasses on the market.
