More information leaked from the gtx 970 and 980
With just a few days to go until the official announcement of the new Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 and 980 videocardz graphics cards, it is still leaking information about them.
The Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 equips the Maxwell-based GM204-400 GPU, this GPU will consist of a total of 16 Streaming Multiprocessors Maxwell (SMM) with 128 CUDA cores each, which translates into a total of 2048 CUDA Cores.
On the other hand, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 equips the Maxwell-based GM204-200 GPU consisting of a total of 13 Streaming Multiprocessors Maxwell (SMM) so it has a total of 1664 CUDA Cores.
Both cards come with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM attached to a 256-bit bus resulting in a final bandwidth of 224GB / s, well below the 288GB / s that the "old" GTX 780Ti has and which is supposed to be practically matched in performance for the GTX 980.
We also note that both cards have two 6-pin power connectors each so that the power consumption will be moderate, 175W for the GTX 980 and 148W for the GTX 970.
