Square Enix has confirmed that the production of Final Fantasy XV for PC has been canceled, which means that we will not have anything new in this video game beyond the Ardyn DLC. This means that the possible Ray Tracing features that had been finally announced are not going to be implemented in the video game, as well as other features, such as modding tools.

Final Fantasy XV for PC will not have Ray Tracing or DLSS implemented

Three of the next four "Final Fantasy XV" DLCs were canceled, Square Enix announced Wednesday during a special live broadcast. Basically, this also means that since PC production has been officially canceled, the promised mod tools, Vulkan API, and DLSS support will not make it to the PC version.

Ardyn's DLC was planned for release in March 2019. Although Square Enix did not reveal whether the promised modding tools or Vulkan support (along with DLSS) have been canceled, there is cause for concern here. The promised modding tools require a lot of R&D before they launch and with Luminous focusing on a new triple AAA title (presumably Final Fantasy XVI), we can assume that it won't be devoting enough staff to complete and release them. After all, Tabata was the great force behind them and with his leaving the studio, there is no guarantee that we will ever see them.

Also, NVIDIA may not even push Square Enix to implement Vulkan and DLSS support in the final game. After all, only the benchmark tool supports DLSS, but not the rest of the game.

Overall, things don't look very good for Final Fantasy XV on PC.
