The plug-in for Adobe Flash multimedia content has just received a new and hard blow that confirms, once again, that it is a technology destined to disappear sooner rather than later. To its long list of "enemies" is now added the Mozilla foundation and the Firefox browser for Android that will stop supporting Flash in its next update.

Why wait if it can be already?

You probably haven't even noticed that you no longer use Adobe Flash technology anywhere. Over the years, and mainly due to its serious and continuous security flaws, the vast majority of web pages have been replacing Flash with technologies such as WebGL, WebAssembly and especially HTML5, at the same time that web browsers have withdrawn their support.

Apple has been a great enemy of Flash. IOS devices (iPhone and iPad) have never allowed their use except through third-party browsers such as Dolphin, and Android also withdrew its support there for version four.

The Mozilla foundation announced long ago that support for Flash would be withdrawn from all versions of Firefox by the end of 2020, however, the company has preferred to save the wait in such a way that Firefox 56 for Android, which currently still It is in beta, it will only be compatible with devices running on Android 4.1 or higher, the first to withdraw its support for Flash.

The meaning of this is that Firefox will no longer offer Flash support since the browser itself will only work on an Android version that does not offer this option either. Still, if for some strange reason you want to continue using this technology, you can choose the Dolphin web browser, available in the Google Play Store.
