Gigabyte Brix BSi5AL-6200 technical specifications
Unboxing and design
As always, Gigabyte offers us a premium presentation on its low-consumption Brix equipment. The Gigabyte Brix BSi5AL-6200 arrives with a very compact black box that on its cover we can see an image of the product and on its side all the most important technical characteristics of it.
Once we open it and as we expected, it comes perfectly protected and brings a wide range of accessories.
We detail what the bundle incorporates:
- Gigabyte Brix BSi5AL-6200. External power supply and UK power cable. The product distributed in Spain comes with cable for our country. Disc with software and drivers. Instruction manual and quick guide. Screws for installation to the built-in VESA bracket.
The Gigabyte Brix BSi5AL-6200 It has dimensions of 34.4 x 112.6 x 119.4 mm (less tall than the Gigabyte Brix BSi5HT-6200) and weighs just 300 grams with all components assembled. One pass!
As we have seen in other models, its design can be defined as spectacular, since in the upper area it has a brushed aluminum effect that gives a high-end touch to our desk or to display it in our living room.
Without a doubt, a work of art that fits in one hand.
We go into more details… in the upper area we have the white screen printed logo and the power button (it also works as a suspension when it is working) and in the lower right corner.
We focus on the front and we find an audio output for our helmets, a normal USB 3.1 connector and the most interesting USB 3.1 with Type C connection.
On both sides of the new Brix BSi5AL-6200 we find grilles that improve air circulation inside the box, expelling it more quickly and keeping the equipment very cool at all times.
Just on the right side we have a second RJ45 Gigabit 10/100/1000 connection from Intel that offers us to get the most out of our local network.
The team has two Gigabit network connections. They are assembled by the Intel i219LM and Intel i210AT chips.
We got to the back area and we found a Kensington security blocker, two USB 3.0 connections, a primary Gigabit network connection, a minidisplayPort connection, an HDMI connection and the power outlet.
On the floor of the Gigabyte Brix BSi5AL-6200 there is an identification sticker and four screws to disassemble the equipment. It also includes a set of screws and adapter to install VESA 75 x 75 and 100x x 100 monitors.
Components and interior
Once we remove them we are left with two parts: the rear area and the entire brix structure. Good detail to incorporate a protector for the M.2 disk in the top cover.
Many of you may be wondering, but… What do we need to get the team up and running? At least we need to install one or two 1.2V DDR4L RAM memory modules and a storage medium for the M.2 SATA 2280 connection. Beware, for now, no Brix or Intel Nuc equipment currently allows NVMe connections. Therefore we recommend that you read our guide to the best SSDs of the moment.
It features an Intel i5 6200U processor based on Intel's dual-core Skylake architecture. Its manufacturing process is 14nm and it runs at frequencies of 2.3 GHz (base), with a turbo it goes up to 2.8 GHz and a TDP of 7.5W.
Among its connectivity, it has an Intel 3165 card for its Wifi 802.11 AC connection , which will allow us to take full advantage of our next-generation router with a 5G connection.
The team brings two expansion slots that allow us to install a maximum of 32 GB of DDR4L RAM at 1.2v. We recommend reading how to install DDR4 SODIMM memory in a laptop or miniPC.

We have installed two 8GB and 1.2V DDR4L modules as main memory and an M.2 disk. Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB with M.2 connection. that we have in the test bench for these occasions.
We have tested the machine with both Windows 10 and KODI ( The new XBMC) and the results have been excellent in 1080p multimedia playback. In addition, the Intel HD 520 graphics card allows us to move our 4K resolution freely) at the same level as the i7 model and saving us a few euros.
Finally we passed several consumer tests and compared it to a NAS. Since with its Brix i7 counterpart the consumption is traced.
Final words and conclusion about Gigabyte Brix BSi5AL-6200
The Gigabyte Brix BSi5AL-6200 It is one of the best miniPCs on the market, both for its build quality, internal components and for its excellent cooling.
One of the great advantages of assembling a computer of these characteristics is that it has ridiculous dimensions but that inside is an Intel i5 Skylake processor, with the possibility of adding 32 GB DDR4L, an M.2 disk for storage that fits in the palm of one hand.
In our tests we have seen that its performance is very close to the Gigabyte Brix i7 model that we analyzed a while ago and its consumption at rest is 7 W while at maximum power it is 13W. In other words, we are in front of a real lighter.
We really liked the addition of the dual 10/100/1000 Gigabit LAN connection and several USB 3.1 and Type C connections! We really liked it.
Currently it can be found online in various online stores for a price ranging from 420 to 450 euros with immediate availability. What did you think of the Gigabyte Brix BSi5AL-6200 ? We want to know your opinion.
