Brix BSI7HT-6500 technical specifications
Unboxing and design
Gigabyte gives us a first-class presentation with a very compact case, with a predominant black color and gold letters. On the back we have all the most important technical characteristics of the product.
Inside we find a very complete bundle:
- Gigabyte Brix BSI7HT-6500. External power supply and wall power cable. Disc with software and drivers. Instruction manual and quick guide. Screws for installation to the built-in VESA mount.
The equipment has very compact dimensions of 46.8 mm x 112.6 mm x 119.4 mm and weighs less than 1 kg. Its design is incredible since it combines a minimalist style and its square shape combines anywhere.
In the upper area it is made of brushed plastic that simulates brushed aluminum very well. The power button is located in the lower left corner. Once the Brix is started, white LEDs light up.
On the main front we find an audio input and output, two USB 3.0 connections and an Intel Core i7 sticker.
While on the left side we have grilles that improve air circulation inside the box, expelling it more quickly. Two other USB 3.0 connections and an SD card reader are located on the right side.
Being one of the most powerful mini Brix on the market, it is full of connections. On the front there is a Gigabit RJ45 LAN output, a mini-displayport connection, a USB 3.1 Type-C connector, an HDMI connection, the power plug and a Kensington security system.
View of the rear area of the Gigabyte Brix BSI7HT-6500. In each leg there is a screw that allows us to access the interior of the computer.
When removing the base we find the bay for SATA III 6Gb / s 2.5 ″ drives. We also see the motherboard with two DDR4 memory slots and the possibility of inserting a high-performance M.2 disk in SATA format.
For its operation we must insert a 1.2V DDR4L memory and storage unit.
It has an Intel i7 6500U processor based on Intel's Skylake architecture manufactured in a 14nm process. It has 64-bit dual-core processing with frequencies of 2.5 GHz (base) and with turbo goes up to 3.1 GHz, a TDP of 15W and supports up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM.
We recommend reading how to install DDR4 SODIMM memory.
Among its connectivity it has an Intel 3165MGW card for its Wifi 802.11 AC connection.
It also includes a set of screws and adapter to install VESA 75 x 75 and 100x x 100 monitors.

We have installed two 8GB and 1.2V DDR4L modules as main memory and a 500GB Samsung EVO 850 SSD that we have in the test bench for these occasions. We have tested the machine with both Windows 10 and KODI (The new XBMC) and the results have been excellent in 1080p multimedia playback. In addition, the Intel HD 520 graphics card allows us to freely move our 4K resolution, so we have a perfect computer to work with.
Final words and conclusion about Gigabyte Brix BSI7HT-6500
The Brix BSI7HT-6500 is a miniPC of small dimensions but very powerful inside. Among its most important features are a dual-core i7 Skylake processor, the possibility of installing 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, an M.2 hard drive and also a second 2.5 ″ drive for storage.
In our tests it has had a very measured consumption (just 11W) playing multimedia content, working with computer packages, virtualizing and making photographic retouching. We can play? Yes, but we must adjust the resolution and filters to the games, although there are models for this type of use. It goes very well with indie-style games.
In short, if you are looking for a compact, low-power computer with excellent cooling and very quiet. The Gigabyte Brix BSI7HT-6500 becomes one of the best options. Its price in store ranges over 600 euros.
