Gigabyte is removing pcie 4.0 from its 300/400 series am4 motherboards
Table of contents:
AMD doesn't officially offer PCIe 4.0 support on platforms other than X570, but that hasn't stopped motherboard manufacturers from adding it to much of their 300/400 series AM4 range. Gigabyte is one of these manufacturers, but now it seems that they are taking a step back with this matter.
Gigabyte remove PCIe 4.0 support with latest BIOS updates for 300/400 series
In the latest Gigabyte 300/400 series BIOS updates, PCIe 4.0 support is being removed from systems using a 3rd generation Ryzen “Matisse” CPU. Some of the affected motherboards are the X370 Gaming 5 and X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming, which no longer have PCIe 4.0 support with the latest AGESA 1.0.0.0.3 ABB BIOS updates.
At this time, it is not known why Gigabyte is removing support for PCIe 4.0, although AMD's latest AGESA update may have something to do with it. Since Gigabyte is one of the manufacturers that have powered PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, it is unlikely that Gigabyte will remove support for PCIe 4.0 without external pressure. There is a possibility that AMD is pushing to remove this bracket, but the latter is just a guess.
