While it is true that all the X570 chipset motherboards have gotten the attention, we cannot ignore this impressive Gigabyte X299G Designare 10G beast. It is the latest Gigabyte creation for Intel's Workstation platform and designed to do battle with AMD's Theradrippers.

New beast with X299 chipset and 10G LAN

Gigabyte already has the current Gigabyte X299 Designare EX board for a while, but has wanted to take advantage of this new generation to give a good update to the Intel X299 platform with the latest news. This is how the Gigabyte X299G Designare 10G was born.

A plate exclusively intended for the most demanding users, since its cost will surely be between 500 or 600 euros, or more. This motherboard brings remarkable innovations that make it rise to a new level of connectivity. We mean that it incorporates a dual 10 Gigabit / s LAN connection on its Intel X550 rear panel, something never seen on a desktop PC board. And it is not all, because the manufacturer has also taken the opportunity to introduce a Wi-Fi 6 Intel Wireless-AX 200 card that offers us speeds of up to 2400 Mb / s in the 5 GHz band.

In addition to this, the VRM has also been upgraded to the new generation with a total of 12 PowlRstage phases. The count of PCIe 3.0 x16 slots is reduced in this case to four, all of them steel-reinforced and supporting Nvidia SLI 3-way and AMD Crossfire 3-way multi-GPU configuration ideal for large professionally designed stations. The 8 DIMM slots with capacity for 128 GB DDR-4400 MHz OC are also maintained with a steel reinforcement.

We continue to have a total of three M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 slots, two of them 22110 and the other 2280 with RAID capacity 0.1, 5 and 10. The SATA connectors are also exactly the same, a total of 6 managed by the chipset and two extra, under the ASMedia ASM1061 controller. We also have powerful Thunderbolt 3 connectivity with two USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C ports. The count of the rest of the USB stays the same, with 4 USB 3.1 Gen1, plus two DisplayPorts.

At Gigabyte's Sneak Peak we have been presented both individually and integrated into a sample rig with impressive hardware. Intel Core i9-9980XE, Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti Turbo 11G or the recently released AORUS Liquid Cooler 280 are some of these elements that this “modest” sample team brought, of course with the aim of showing all the innovative products of the brand.
