With the arrival of PCIe Gen 4 on the market, it was a matter of time that the brands began to release new and interesting models. Today we will see the approach of the Polish brand GOODRAM , since they are going to release their first models of SSDs with PCIe Gen 4 . These new storage units will be under the name GOODRAM IRDM Ultimate X.

GOODRAM IRDM Ultimate X memories will come with 500GB, 1TB or 2TB

These new products are designed for new generations of high-end computers and, as is common, they will take four PCIe Gen 4 lines.

It should be noted that the drivers it uses are based on the Phison PS5016-E16 drivers . For this reason, like other models that use these same controllers, the GOODRAM IRDM Ultimate X mounts 3D TLC NAND memories.

Regarding the expected performance, the three models will be able to achieve a sequential reading of 5000 MB / s. However, regarding sequential writing, things change. For the 1 TB and 2 TB models we will have speeds of around 4500 MB / s , while for the 500 GB it will be only 2500 MB / s .

On the other hand, the top two models will have a symmetric random read and write of around 750 K IOPS (Input / Output Operations Per Seconds) . Similarly, the 500GB model will only hit 550K IOPS random read and 400K IOPS random write.

To solve the temperature problems due to the higher consumption, the GOODRAM IRDM Ultimate X will have a passive aluminum heatsink.

These memories will come standard with a 5 year warranty and will hit the market in November . Regarding the price, we do not have any news, but it will depend on the memory capacity and we do not expect it to drop below € 200.

And what do you think of these new "next generation" memories? Do you think they have enough performance for PCIe Gen 4? Share your ideas in the comment box.
