Google maps improves its offline functionality
Table of contents:
Google Maps is probably the most used mapping application in the world, at least if we consider smartphone users given the large number of Android users. This popular application was initially totally dependent on the network connection, although it has been improving over time to offer better and better offline functionality.
Google Maps improves its offline features with the latest update
Google Maps for Android will from now on be easier to use for users who do not have a comprehensive data plan after the last update of this application. Google Maps includes a WiFi mode so that the maps are downloaded only when connecting to a WiFi network, thus avoiding unnecessary consumption of mobile data. Support is also added to save the maps on the microSD memory card and thus save internal memory space on the phone.
Finally we highlight the inclusion of a new service to inform users of the rates of the different Uber-style transport services, thus improving support for GO-JEK, Grab, Gett, Hailo and MyTaxi.
Important improvements for one of the most used applications in the world and that will be especially useful for users of low-end smartphones with little storage capacity or with a limited data plan.
