2017 was a bit of a turbulent year as high-end graphics card prices have not come down, but have instead been going up due to demand from cryptocurrency miners. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (FTW3) cost between $ 799 and $ 899 last year, at the moment the card is hovering around $ 1600 at the Amazon store in the United States. In Spain, by 'luck', we can get this card for about 900 euros approximately.

GTX 1080 Ti costs 1600 dollars and the RX VEGA reaches 2100 dollars

The one that's hitting an insane price tag is AMD's RX Vega 64, which was officially launched for about $ 499 originally, but rose rapidly over the weeks to $ 799. Today the AMD card costs about $ 2, 100 on Amazon (650 euros in Spain).

Mining, little competition in the high-end sector and problems in the supply of memory modules, are pushing the prices of these cards upwards, until reaching values never seen before. The RX VEGA 64 is known as a beast for cryptocurrency mining and that is why its price has skyrocketed, even more than the GTX 1080 Ti, despite offering worse gaming performance.

The fact that AMD is not going to launch any high-end cards in 2018 is not going to help this situation at all, NVIDIA will have no need for a successor to the GTX 1080 Ti that works very well in current games, so 2018 will be a year quite similar to 2017.
