AMD promises to launch more AMD Radeon graphics cards this year
Mark Papermaster confirmed that AMD is not abandoning the mid-range market with its recently announced 7nm architecture during CES 2019, which resulted in Radeon VII. The company will introduce more Radeon products throughout this year, so we are 'excited' to find out what the solutions will be for the mid-range, low-end and whether there will be anything superior to the Radeon VII.
"We are very excited to start at the highest level with our 7nm Radeon VII and will see more announcements throughout the year as our Radeon series is updated, " was Mark Papermaster's comment.
This means that AMD is more than likely to launch new entry-level and mid-range products based on the 7nm architecture. The company is likely to start at the entry level, as the Radeon RX 590 is a relatively new product, though still based on outdated Polaris architecture.
It is also possible that these new products use the Navi architecture, which could use cheaper memory technologies like GDDR6. This is still early to know, but this will be an interesting year for AMD in the graphics card segment, surely much more interesting than Nvidia's, which already did the hard work with the launch of the RTX 20 series.
