We have already started to see the first desktop computers with GeForce RTX graphics cards, and this time it is the turn of the OMEN Obelisk, which in addition to including the new generation of NVIDIA GPUs, seeks to stand out for its expansion possibilities.

The new range of computers will allow us to choose between maximum Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 processors, so the specifications start quite well by giving us the option to choose between the two CPU manufacturers.

The graphics cards used will be the new generation of NVIDIA, being able to choose up to the GeForce RTX 2080, so we will enjoy its high performance and ray tracing technology on these PCs.

The brand could have used a slightly better motherboard, since it is clearly appreciated that it has some specifications that seem very basic for high-end parts. We do not say this due to the lack of aggressive aesthetic lines, but rather due to aspects such as VRM without dissipation and a very low number of phases, or the use of only 2 DIMM memory slots. It should be noted that it is a micro-ATX board.

The included heatsink also seems a bit basic, and a somewhat more sophisticated solution could have been used. In any case OMEN indicates that they have worked a lot on the refrigeration aspects and offer software to control temperatures, so they surely have enough confidence in that specific aspect.

Beyond that, good quality HyperX DDR4-2666 RAMs with dual channel configuration are used and installation of up to 32GB is allowed.

And yes, the equipment is completely accessible without tools and HP allows us to carry out updates on it, apparently even on the motherboard and other components, although they should be consulted if any change invalidates the warranty. As far as we know, you can change at least disks, RAM and cooling.

We do not know the price and availability of the new series of equipment, but we hope that they will come onto the market at a competitive price to become a great option for those who do not want to assemble a PC by parts.
