HTC Vive were the first virtual reality glasses for PC users to reach the market, now it seems that their successors, the HTC Vive 4K, will be the first to make the leap to 4K resolution this year 2018.

HTC Vive 4K will be shown on January 8

HTC has taken advantage of its twitter account to show new virtual reality glasses, with this it seems evident that the brand will launch a new model this year. CES 2018 begins next week, making it the perfect time to take a new step in the virtual reality market.

One of the biggest news of the new HTC Vive 4K will be the use of 4K resolution as its name suggests, although we do not know if it will be 4K by eye or not. In any case, the jump will be noticeable compared to 1080 x 1200 pixels that the current HTC Vive have for each eye. This new display will maintain a 90Hz refresh rate, giving each eye access to 45 FPS maximum.

The "bad" part of this increase in resolution is that the requirement with the hardware will be much higher, since we will have to reach a rate of at least 90 FPS for the experience to be fluid, something only within the reach of the most cutting-edge hardware in 4K resolution.

The good news is that the image quality will be much higher, eliminating the grid effect of the current HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
