Huawei continues to struggle with 5G development in Europe. As despite the fact that the opposite had been mentioned a few weeks ago, the Netherlands does not intend for the company to participate, at least for the time being, in the development of 5G at its borders. There are a couple of reasons for this, one that there is currently an investigation into the company by the secret services.

On the other hand, the recent theft of secret information from ASML by a Chinese company does not help confidence about the intentions of companies from the Asian country in Europe.

Problems for Huawei

The vast majority of political parties in the Netherlands, including those in the coalition government, have already made it clear that they do not want the company to be involved in the deployment of 5G for the time being. First, the ongoing investigation must come to an end. Furthermore, many see that the suspicions towards these companies are not entirely unfounded.

Therefore, it is likely that the company will end up being blocked in this regard, so that it does not participate in 5G in the Netherlands. Although at the moment the investigation is awaited first, before making the final decision. Now is temporary.

There are already several parties that ask to work with European companies in this regard. Firms like Nokia and Ericsson may end up being the ones working on these 5G networks in many markets. In Europe, they are seen as safer and more reliable options, especially due to accusations of espionage against Huawei.
