Hummer is the name of the Trojan virus that has infected Android terminals at breakneck speed in recent months. Created by a group of Chinese hackers, it is estimated that this virus is generating about $ 500, 000 per day for the number of Android devices it infects.

Hummer is generating about $ 500, 000 a day for its creators

According to a study published by the Cheetah Mobile Security computer security research laboratory, Hummer turns out to be one of the largest malwares seen to date, in the first 6 months of the year it infected 63, 000 devices in China and more than 1.4 million of devices around the globe.

Hummer is a Trojan that, after installing itself on the Android device, achieves the administrator privileges of the phone thanks to some 18 different methods that it has to get hold of it and gain precious root access. Once Hummer gains the privileges, it begins downloading a large number of malwares and unwanted applications (up to 200 according to Cheetah Mobile Security), being able to use up to 2GB of storage in the process.

Evolution of Hummer and the number of devices it has infected

Fortunately, and here is the weird thing about this whole issue, an application of Cheetah Mobile Security itself has been published on Google Play that lets you know if you are infected and removes this Trojan called Hummer from our device. The application would be free at first but it is curious how the laboratory that discovers the aforementioned virus is also the one that gives the cure, fueling the myth that computer viruses are created by the Antivirus companies themselves, believe or burst .
