The first benchmark of the new Broadwell-E processors, specifically a comparison between the Intel i7-6850K vs i7-5820K, has just been leaked from the overclock.net forums by the user "Maintenance Bot" .

Intel Core i7-6850K: performance testing

The comparison is made between the already analyzed i7-5820K six-core and with a manufacturing process against the i7-6850k six-core also but with a manufacturing process of 14nm. It is improved from 3.60 GHz to 3.80 GHz and the TDP is 140W.

The first thing it performs is a comparison of its measurements, and as expected, they are exactly identical, except that the New six-core processor features an IHS with larger area and which is thinner (1.12mm vs. 1.87mm). The performance tests were done with an overclock of 4, 200 Mhz on both processors.

We recommend reading the guide to the best processors on the market.

The new broadwell-e gets 1311 cb while the i7-5820k only 1191 cb at the same frequency.

In the 3DMARK performance test, you get a total of 9440 points with a GTX 980 Ti against 9353 points in the top sales i7-5820k. Much more even in performance… we leave you some tables that clearly show the results of the i7-6900k, i7-6850k and i7-5820k .

Processor Test frequency Firestrike (Physical Result)
Intel Core i7-6850K 4.20 GHz 19065 Points
Intel Core i7-5820K 4.20 GHz 16598 Points
Processor name processor clock CineBench R15 (multithreaded)
Intel Core i7-6900K 3.60 GHz 1471 Points
Intel Core i7-6850K 4.20 GHz 1311 Points
Intel Core i7-5820K 4.20 GHz 1191 Points

If performance is confirmed this performance of up to 10%. What do you think of this improvement? Thinking of changing your i7-5820k to an i7-6850k or higher model? Or don't you see it necessary?
