Install the always on display on any android phone

Always On Display is a new functionality that was announced in the recent Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5 and allows us to have the phone screen always on with the most immediate information we need, for example, the time, date, calendar, status of the time, notifications, among others, without the need to manually activate the screen so that it turns on each time.

Two applications to add Always On Display on any phone

It does not seem that Always On Display is a revolutionary functionality but it is very practical, in addition to being specially prepared to consume a laughable battery life.

This function is only present on these two phones but it is possible to emulate Always On Display on any other Android phone with a series of free applications, in this case we will name two:

Glance Plus

This application emulates the Always On Display function with a proximity detection system, in this way the information that we have configured (clock, date, weather, notifications) will be seen on the screen when we take the phone out of our pocket or we approach to see the screen.

The app has different skins and is completely free. Requires Android 4.3 or higher.

AcDisplay

AcDisplay is an application that replaces lock screen with Always On Display functions, just like Glance Plus, it turns on when you take it out of our pocket or when we receive notifications.

In the latest versions of AcDisplay the battery consumption has been improved so that it impacts the autonomy as little as possible. AcDisplay is free and requires Android 4.1 or higher.
