Intel 665p, the evolution of the 660p will come out in early 2020
Table of contents:
NAND technology continues to evolve, bringing with it higher performance, lower prices, and the promise of tighter competition. QLC NAND is one of the latest NAND innovations, which increases the density of bits stored in NAND. Intel 665p is the natural evolution of the current Intel 660p and in the last few hours it has confirmed an approximate date for its launch, which will be at the beginning of next year.
Intel 665p is the natural evolution of the current Intel 660p with 96-layer NAND
Intel 660p has quickly become one of the world's most popular QLC-powered SSDs, and has now been replaced by a new model called Intel 665p, which uses Intel's second-generation QLC NAND. This NAND uses 96-layer QLC NAND instead of the 64-layer NAND used by the original 660p.
Under the hood, the 665p uses the same Silicon Motion SM2263 controller as the original 660p, making all performance improvements due to the change in the number of layers more NAND type. Also, Intel will only release this model in 1TB and 2TB capacities.

The amount of SLC cache will never be less than 12GB on the 1TB model and 24GB on the 2TB model. This SLC cache provides users with a fast buffer before the drive is limited by QLC slow write performance.
Compared to the original 660p, Intel's new 665p is designed to offer users a 50% increase in endurance and significant performance benefits in both read and write performance, especially on the 2TB model.
Intel plans to launch its 665p SSDs in early 2020, so Intel will most likely want to lower the price of the 600p in these months to get rid of inventory. We will keep you informed.
