Intel core i7 8700k 'coffee lake' reaches 4.3ghz in single

We have more details about the next generation of 8th generation Intel processors, such as the Core i7 8700K, which are confirming the clock speeds reached by these chips.

Until now we knew that this 8th generation i7 would come with 6 processing cores with 12 threads of execution, in a total of three models, where the i7 8700K would be the fastest chip in this line. What we don't know is whether these three models hit stores at the same time or if they will do so in a staggered fashion.

4.0GHz in all its cores and 4.3GHz in a single core

With this new information, we know the speeds that the Intel Core i7 8700K will be able to achieve. The processor based on the Coffee Lake architecture works 3.7GHz and can reach 4.3GHz in turbo for a single core, for dual core it reaches 4.2GHz and 4.0GHz for the 6 physical cores it has.

Going into more detail, the Core i7 8700K has a BCLK frequency of 100 MHz with the multiplier unlocked. Support is added for dual-channel memory with speeds of 2400MHz and a total of 12MB of L3 cache or 'smart cache', which is the same amount as the Intel Core i7-8700 'non-K'.

Using the current LGA 1151 socket, these processors can be used without problems on motherboards that are already on the market, but Intel is expected to launch a new chipset called Z390 that will come with these new processors to take full advantage of it.

The 6 cores seem to be commonplace this year and especially in 2018. AMD has 6 and 8-core processors that work very well and at really competitive prices, Intel will have to do its homework with Coffee Lake so as not to lose more ground.
