Intel elkhart lake, new low-power soc with igpu gen11
Table of contents:
The latest patches for Intel's open source * nix drivers hint at the existence of a new low-power SoC, which they refer to as “Elkhart Lake”. The interesting thing about this new SoC is that it incorporates the company's most advanced integrated graphics solution (Gen11).
Elkhart Lake is a new Intel processor with new generation Gen11 integrated graphics
Last month we revealed the performance that Gen11 would offer compared to Intel's current Gen9 integrated graphics solution, on average 75% more performance compared to the HD 620.
"Elkhart Lake" is a 10nm SoC that combines a CPU complex based on the "Tremont" microarchitecture with an iGPU based on the Gen11 architecture. Gen11 will debut with the company's 10nm "Ice Lake" processors, promising huge gains in graphics performance. Prototypes of a typical Gen11 variant have been found to have a computing performance of 1 TFLOP / s, making them run roughly on par with current AMD "Raven Ridge" processors.
We do not have much more information about Elkhart Lake, beyond that it is a low consumption SoC. Regarding the built-in Gen11, this will be the first major update to Intel's integrated graphics since 2015, when they released Gen9. Since then, they have always lagged behind competing iGPUs. We will see what AMD's response will be in this segment, with the arrival of the Navi architecture in the middle of this year and the Zen 2 processors.
