Intel has been very quiet in the sector of processors for home environments due to the lack of competition, a situation that has been used to forcefully allocate its resources in other areas such as artificial intelligence. The new Intel Lake Crest processor includes a deep neural network that will take the company to technological leadership without the need to depend on a GPU. This new processor will be able to compete with the best graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia in artificial intelligence, this has been possible with the acquisition of Nervana for $ 350 million, a company focused on deep learning systems.

Intel Lake Crest is based on the new Flexpoint architecture that is focused on greatly increasing the AI ​​workload and will allow the processor to work as a Xeon Coprocessor, thus generating up to 10 times more arithmetic operations on the CPU. This new architecture is supported by no less than 32 GB of HBM2 memory capable of offering a bandwidth of 8 TB / s and will use an Intel proprietary interconnect interface up to 20 times faster than PCI-Express.
