The ball of the vulnerability of Intel processors for PC has been getting bigger the last few hours, so the manufacturer has made available to users a small tool that checks the equipment and reports if it is vulnerable or not.

Check if your Intel PC is vulnerable

To get this tool we just have to go to the page that Intel has enabled for download, once there we will see that it gives us options to download an executable for Linux and another for Windows, click on the version that corresponds to our operating system and download will start.

Once it has been downloaded, we only have to unzip the zip file, enter the DiscoveryTool.GUI folder and open the executable inside, in a few seconds it will inform us if our computer is vulnerable or not.

This download contains two versions of the tool. The first is an interactive GUI tool that discovers the hardware and software details of the device and provides a risk assessment. This version is recommended for a local evaluation of the system.

All modern processors are susceptible to Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities

The second version of the tool is a console executable that saves the discovery information in the Windows registry and / or in an XML file. This release is more convenient for IT administrators who want to perform bulk discovery across multiple machines to find systems to target for firmware updates.
