Intel to Launch Coffee Lake Successors in Early 2018
Table of contents:
Coffee Lake is on its way to becoming one of the shortest generations of Intel processors, having just hit the market just a month ago and there is already talk that Intel plans to launch its successors by early 2018.
The ninth generation of Intel Core is very close
It will be between the months of March and April when the new 9th generation Core processors arrive to succeed the current 8000 series, we will continue to have 2.4 and 6-core models so it seems that finally the mainstream platform will not make the leap to eight cores, at least for now. These processors will continue to work with the LGA 1151 socket although they will arrive with new chipsets, without having confirmed their compatibility or not with the current Z370 motherboards.
Ryzen 5 Vs Core i5 What is the best option?
There is also talk that at the end of 2018 the renewal of the Intel HEDT platform will come with the new Cascade Lake-X processors that will be the successors of the current Skylake-X. This new generation will continue to have 18 cores as the maximum configuration although they will reach higher frequencies thanks to a manufacturing process at 14 nm + much more refined.
Without a doubt Intel has had to step on the accelerator before the resurgence of a very competitive AMD with its Ryzen and Ryzen Threadripper processors that has returned to the top of the PC processors after many years to spare Intel with its failed Bulldozer architecture.
Lastly, there is talk of Gemini Lake SoCs destined for the low-power platform of Intel with a maximum TDP of 10W, 2 and 4-core models will arrive for new generations of tablets, AIO and NUC equipment.
