Intel acquires eASIC, a leading company, to strengthen its presence in this market sector, all the details
The acquisition of eASIC will expand Intel's portfolio of programmable solutions with the addition of structured ASICs. Intel's short-term intentions are to provide a low-cost automated conversion process from FPGA to structured ASIC. In the longer term, Intel intends to build a new class of programmable chips that take advantage of Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB) technology to combine FPGA and ASIC in one system as a single package.
This combination brings together the best technologies from both companies to offer customers more options, less time to market and lower development costs. Specifically, having a structured ASIC offering will help us better address the high-performance, power-constrained applications that we see many of our customers challenged in market segments such as 4G and 5G wireless networks and IoT.
We will still have to wait long to know the first products born as a result of this acquisition of Intel. Hopefully, over the next few months, the first roadmaps will be announced.
