Intel has released its new series of eighth-generation laptop processors with the code name Whiskey Lake. The new CPUs will provide multiple improvements over the previous generation with a total of 6 new chips between the U and Y series.

Intel Launches Six Whiskey Lake Laptop Processors

The company released a total of 6 CPUs with Gigabit WiFi, better clock speeds, and more. The Whiskey Lake processors announced and released on the day of the date are as follows;

Y series: M3-8100Y, i5-8200Y, i7-8500Y, U series: i3-8145U, i5-8265U, i7-8565U. Within the Y series the most powerful processor will be the i7-8500Y which comes with a base frequency of 1.5 GHz, but can automatically reach 4.2 GHz. This processor comes with 2 cores and 4 threads with a TDP of 5 W.

Within the U series, the most powerful chip is the i7-8565U which has a base frequency of 1.8 GHz with a capacity to reach 4.6 GHz. The processor has 4 cores with HyperThreading, so it supports up to 8 threads. The TDP in this case is 15 W.

As we can see, HyperThreading is present in all cases.

'Optimized for Connectivity'

Intel is promoting eighth-generation Whiskey Lake processors under the title 'Optimized for Connectivity' and they pay special attention to autonomy.

According to Intel, these processors allow a laptop to be twice as fast as one from 5 years ago, have faster connection speeds, greater autonomy and better performance in voice command services.

We hope to see notebooks with these chips in action soon, especially those high-end models.
