Intel has begun shipping its Xe-powered DG1 graphics cards to ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) around the world, paving the way for the release of Xe graphics to the end consumer this year with Tiger Lake and beyond.

This is what the first dedicated Intel Xe DG1 GPU looks like

DG1 (Discrete Graphics 1) is what should be considered as a hardware prototype, acting as a " Software development vehicle" for Intel Xe architecture, which will go on the market with designs ranging from integrated graphics up to server-centric high-power HPC models. This is Intel's starting gun in the accelerated graphics segment.

We can see various slides from Intel detailing the company's Xe graphics architecture and revealing renderings of the DG1 GPU design. However, PC gamers shouldn't expect Intel's DG1 graphics card to go on sale in stores.

If we look at the graphics card, we can see that the unit is cooled by a single axial fan and that it has a PCIe x16 connection. The graphics card is dual-slot design and features a full cover back plate and metal cover.

Other graphics card images also show four screen outputs. These outputs appear to be HDMI and DisplayPort, and the GPU offers what appear to be three DisplayPort connections and a single HDMI output.

No type of connection is observed for the power supply, which suggests that it will not require any external power supply. This means that this graphics card cannot use more than 75W of power, which makes DG1 a low consumption graphics card.

We know that Xe graphics will be divided into three main groups: Xe-LP, Xe-HP, and Xe-HPC. The DG1 is more than likely an Xe-LP design, as we've already seen several leaks referencing 96 execution units. We will keep you informed.
