Fractal Design announces its new Ion SFX power supplies for compact equipment

Fractal Design is starting to make waves in the PSU market, with plans to deliver high-end performance at affordable prices and some unique features.

Like the previous Ion + Platinum series, Fractal's Ion SFX series of power supplies offers users “UltraFlex DC” cables. By manufacturing its PSU cables with a greater number of filaments, Fractal has made its PSU cables more flexible than those of the competition. This makes cable management easier as cables now have greater flexibility, a plus for managing them in compact PC cases. This, combined with the SFX format of the power supply, makes it ideal for this type of system.

Fractal's Ion SFX series of power supplies will launch in two flavors, the Ion SFX 500W and the Ion SFX 650W, both of which will ship with an 80 PLUS Gold efficiency rating. Both units will feature custom 120mm fans with semi-passive zero RPM modes, helping to ensure quiet operation under both light and heavy loads. Both power supplies are also fully modular and shipped with an SFX to ATX mounting adapter.

At launch, Fractal's Ion SFX Gold 500W will cost around € 100 (approx). Unfortunately, at this time, we don't know the price of the Fractal 600W model.
