The new Apple operating system for mobile devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch), is already installed in more than half of the terminals active globally, as the company itself has revealed.

The iOS 11 mobile operating system is already fully operational and installed on 52 percent of iOS devices. The information comes from the company Apple itself that has shared these statistics through the support page of the App Store for developers.

Since the official launch of iOS 11, an event that took place on September 19, 2017, this is the first time that Apple updates the support page of its app store to offer information regarding the adoption of this new version. Therefore, these are the first official figures that indicate the rate at which users are updating their compatible devices.

Before these figures, we have only been able to access estimates by the analysis company Mixpanel, which, incidentally, have turned out quite differently, since that company pointed out that iOS 11 is found in 66% of devices, which is an overestimate of 14 percentage points on reality.

With iOS 11 installed on 52 percent of devices, 38 percent continue to run iOS 10, while the remaining 10 percent is found on some earlier version of iOS.

But despite the numbers, the reality is that iOS 11 adoption is proving slower than iOS 10 adoption last year, although the absolute number of devices with the new installed version has grown steadily since its launch. official.

So far, Apple has released several updates for iOS 11, including iOS 11.1, the first major update to this version that brought new emojis, 3D Touch to the app picker, and some security fixes.

The next update, iOS 11.2, is currently in the testing phase, and with it will come a new feature, Apple Pay Cash, that could encourage users left behind to upgrade to the new operating system.
