We know that not all users can afford a mechanical keyboard, either because of its high price or because they have to use it in an environment where you cannot make much noise. For these types of situations we have membrane keyboards like the Krom Krown, a model that stands out for a very tight price, but that does not want to give up good quality and the best features.

First of all, we are grateful to Krom for the trust he has placed in giving us the product for analysis.

Krom Krown technical features

Unboxing and design

Krom has opted for a cardboard box decorated with its corporate colors to pack the Krown keyboard, as usual, the box shows us a high-resolution image of the keyboard and informs us of its most important characteristics. We open the box and find the keyboard covered by a plastic bag to prevent damage during transport.

The Krom Krown keyboard is made of black plastic, its design is quite irregular, with an aggressive appearance that corresponds quite well to the gaming aesthetic. This keyboard has dimensions of 480 x 200 x 34 mm and a weight of 500 grams, figures that correspond to a typical membrane keyboard. The keyboard includes an integrated palm rest, small in size but which will help to improve the comfort of use. At the top we find the keys dedicated to the multimedia controls, we can adjust the volume and move forward / backward in the playlist in a very comfortable way. The keyboard works with a 1.8 meter cable, ends in a USB 2.0 connector and is rubberized to achieve greater resistance to wear and reduce friction with the desktop.

Krom Krown is based on a standard key layout for the Spanish language, which means that we have the ñ and all other characters in their usual position, this will help that we don't need a very long adaptation period before we can write to all speed.

Its membrane pushbuttons have an activation force of 55 grams, a figure similar to mechanical switches. They are soft buttons, thanks to which we will not tire excessively when typing for long sessions. Logically, touch can never be the same as a mechanical keyboard, although in return it is infinitely quieter. Krom Krown has a 19-key anti-ghosting system, in this way it will not collapse even if you press many keys at the same time.

At the bottom it has two legs to raise it slightly and improve ergonomics of use, its rubber feet will keep it well fixed on the table.

The keyboard includes an adjustable backlight system in orange, blue or purple, for this we only have to press the FN + TAB keys.

Final words and conclusion about Krom Krown

Krom Krown is an excellent low cost membrane keyboard, its design is modern and attractive, while showing good quality in all sections. The writing becomes quite pleasant to be a membrane keyboard, the softness of its buttons makes us not overly tired or our fingers hurt after several hours, although in return it is easier to make wrong presses. If you are used to a mechanical keyboard it is clearly a step back in use experience, although it is very pleasant to type with almost absolute silence. The standard layout of its keys and the design make it quite comfortable to use, something that also helps the possibility of slightly lifting it with its paws.

We recommend reading our post on The best keyboards for PC (Mechanical, membrane and wireless) | January 2018

In short, a good membrane keyboard for users who do not want to spend a lot, or who are looking for a very quiet keyboard. Krom Krown is for sale for an approximate price of 25 euros, you can not ask for more.
