KX-U6780A processor and C1888 motherboard hit the retail market
Zhaoxin's Chinese processor is already listed on the Taobao online store and is slated to launch in mid-March for the general public.
The KaiXian KX-U6780A is based on the LuJiaZui microarchitecture. It has a thermal design power of 70W and has eight cores and eight threads at 2.7 GHz. The processor has 8MB of L2 cache, but it lacks L3 cache. TSMC is producing the Zhaoxin processor with the 16nm process node.
The KX-U6780A has a dual channel memory controller. The chip supports DirectX 11 graphics, modern interfaces such as M.2, PCIe 3.0, SATA, and USB 3.1, and instruction sets that include SSE 4.2 and AVX.
The Chinese YouTube channel 二斤 自制 was made with the KX-U6780A combo and C1888 motherboard from Shenzhen Cjoyin Electronics. The C1888 in the video is an engineering sample, so the final specs will differ a little.
The C1888's motherboard currently has an old-school green PCB, but will also be available in white after its official launch. Additionally, the manufacturer plans to add a power button and standardize the motherboard holes for standard CPU coolers. This has two DDR4 SO-DIMMs that support DDR4-3200 RAM. It also provides an mSATA and SATA port for storage.

Based on performance results, the KX-U6780A should be slower than an Intel Core i5-7600K. Intel's quad-core chip offers up to 180% and 32% more performance than the KX-U6780A in single- and multi-thread tests with the CPU-Z benchmark, respectively.
The package is currently in presale for 4, 300 yuan (620 USD) on Taobao, and is limited to 55 units.
