EVGA has officially unveiled its new Precision X1 overclocking utility, which will offer users a new design and features never before seen, providing us with more precise controls for overclocking our graphics card, fan speed adjustment, and RGB lighting.

Precision X1 will be able to overclock our graphics card automatically

Precision X1 will come with a new functionality called “OC Scanner”, this tool allows Nvidia graphics card users to adjust and test their graphics card automatically, obtaining the best overclocking values with the completely stable system, instead of searching for best values manually.

EVGA says the new OC Scanner feature works only with "Nvidia Turing" graphics cards, so it probably won't be available on older generation graphics cards.

Automatic overclocking would only be available on Turing GPUs

This could be because it uses a technology called Nvidia Scanner, only present in Turing graphics cards. Precision X1 is the first application to use something similar, but other tools like MSI Afterburner may very well have a similar function in future releases as well.

The purpose is to make life easier for users who want to overclock their graphics cards, but do not know exactly until what values to increase the frequencies. Today everything is about 'trial and error' values are increased and the graphics card is tested with a benchmark tool or directly with a game, if it does not fail, we continue to increase the values. With OC Scanner we do not save all this process.

EVGA's Precision X1 tool will offer the user several other new features, such as voltage monitoring for supported EVGA graphics cards, RGB control, an OSD, custom fan profiles for multi-GPU systems, and screen capture functionality in any game.. EVGA has not revealed the release date of this new overclocking utility, although it is likely to coincide with the consumer version of Turing that will be released on September 20.
