The geforce gtx 980m could have 2048 cuda cores
The new GeForce GTX 980 and 970 with Nvidia's Maxwell architecture have hit the ground running with very high performance and a contained and lower price than their predecessors, especially the GTX 970 with its fantastic price / performance ratio. However, the specifications of its variants for laptops are not well known.
According to the SweClockers website, the GeForce GTX 980M will arrive with a GPU made up of 2048 CUDA Cores, 128 TMUs and 64 ROPs as well as the desktop GTX 980, said GPU would be accompanied by a total of 8 GB of GDDR5 memory. The difference with respect to the GTX 980 would be in the frequencies since the GPU would reach frequencies of 1039/1127 MHz and the memory would be limited to 5.00 GHz, compared to 7.00 GHz for desktop computers. Confirming the gap between desktop graphics cards and their laptop variants would greatly reduce performance.
However, the NotebookCheck website gives more modest specifications for the GTX 980M, according to them said graphic would have 1664 CUDA Cores and the GTX 970M only 1280 CUDA Cores and a memory interface of only 192 bits.
