It seems that the latest version of Denuvo technology that has been protecting the latest PC games like Yakuza 0, Monster Hunter World, Dragon Quest XI or Shadow of the Tomb Raider has been cracked.

They get to crack F1 2018 that comes with the latest version of Denuvo

A group of hacking (or crackers) called CODEX was able to break the protection of the F1 2018 video game that uses the latest version of Denuvo technology. Since this version, which some call Denuvo 4.9, has been successfully decrypted, this group of hackers can also crack some other triple A games that have been protected all this time. This also means that Denuvo will need to release a new version of this protection.

Denuvo was ignored by Voksi almost a month ago, whom the company sued. In July, Voksi said the company filed a case against him with the Bulgarian authorities, who hijacked his PC and terminated his server. For this reason, Voksi is no longer working on cracking games, however other groups emerged to fill that gap.

The good news for developers is that the cracks for many of the aforementioned video games have not been made available to the public as soon as Voksi's solutions were. As such, this technology has been able to protect all the mentioned titles, although it will be interesting to see if the hacking group will be able to break this protection in Shadow of the Tomb Raider sooner than expected.

It has been mentioned that the strategy when using this system is to protect the games long enough so that it does not affect initial sales, let's say the first month of release, something that Denuvo seems to be fulfilling in most of the cases.
