The adata su800 series drive adds a 2tb variant
Table of contents:
During the last year we did a review of the ADATA SU800, obtaining the gold seal and a recommendation for this SSD, but at that time it only came in capacities of 128 GB, 256 Gb and 512 GB. Today a new SU800 model that comes with 2TB has been announced.
ADATA expands SU800 series with new 2TB variant
ADATA SU800 was launched in mid-2016 to compete with the performance segment SATA SSDs of the time, such as the 850 EVO. It was one of the first units in its segment to implement 3D NAND TLC flash with capacities ranging from 128GB to 1TB later. Two years later, ADATA expands this series with a new 2TB variant to go after the crowd that wants to take advantage of the low prices of NAND flash drives to get a high-capacity SATA SSD and use it as a gaming drive.
The new 2TB variant (ASU800SS-2TT-C), still based on the Silicon Motion SM2258G controller, supported by a DRAM cache, and uses a 3D TLC NAND flash memory manufactured by Micron. It uses up to 8% of its TLC NAND flash memory as SLC cache. The drive offers sequential transfer speeds of up to 560 MB / s, with a sequential write speed of up to 520 MB / s, and a resistance of up to 1, 600 TBW.
The LDPC (Low Density Parity Checking Code - in Spanish) and the built-in support of DVESLP mode make up its feature set. Backed by a 3-year warranty, the unit's price is expected to be around $ 379, a price that is still too high compared to a mechanical hard drive.
