Project Scorpio is a console that we have been waiting for almost a whole year, but now Microsoft has finally decided to present its official specifications before E3 2017.

Just a few days ago, several rumors emerged on the web that Microsoft would be ready to launch Project Scorpio soon. And it seems that the rumors were confirmed and now we are lucky to know some of the specifications of the future console, which mark a great change compared to the Xbox.

Project Scorpio Specifications

Scorpio is still a code name for the console on which Microsoft works, so at the moment it is not clearly known what its official name will be when it is presented by the company. Similarly, we also do not know the price of the future console, although at least we already have a part of the specifications that point to some important improvements compared to the Xbox One.

The colleagues at Digital Foundry, who were able to see the console, point out that "the hardware was created to take things to another level".

The currently known specifications are as follows:

  • Processor: Dedicated x86 eight-core processor (2.3GHz) Video card: 6 TFLOPS (1172MHz) processing capacity Memory: 12GB GDDR5 Memory bandwidth: 326GB / s Hard drive: 1TB Optical drive: Blu-Ray 4K UHD

In other words, the Xbox Scorpio processor is 30% faster than the Xbox One's chip, while the video card is 4.6 times more powerful. There are also improvements in other sections, so the 4K resolutions that Microsoft promises us will be easily achievable.

In a benchmark test with Forza 6, the Project Scorpio console managed to deliver 4K resolution at 60FPS, without using more than 70% of its total processing capacity. In comparison, Xbox One only works at 1080p / 60FPS, while using roughly 90% of its capacity, IGN notes.

Although its price was not disclosed, it will surely be around $ 500 when Project Scorpio comes to light.
