Collaboration between AMD and Microsoft Azure continues. This is something the two companies have already announced, thanks to the unveiling of AMD's new CPU and GPU-powered Microsoft AzureNVv4 virtual machines. These new machines are now available, for customers in the southern central regions of the United States, the eastern United States, and western Europe, with additional regions planned for the coming months.

Both companies have been collaborating for a while. Little by little, this joint work is expanding, as can be seen now.
Collaboration in advance
This announcement follows the recent push from AMD-powered Azure VMs, including general availability of Dav4 and Eav4 series VMs made for memory-intensive and general-purpose workloads, and general availability of HBv2 series for high performance computing workloads.
- Dav4 series VM:: Dav4 and Dasv4 Azure VMs are made for a variety of general-purpose applications. With the powerful AMD EPYC 7452 processor, VMs offer up to 96 vCPUs, 384 GB of RAM, and 2, 400 GB of SSD-based temporary storage and support for Azure Premium SSDs. Eav4 series VMs: Eav4 and Easv4 Azure VMs are built for loads of work with intensive use of memory. These new VMs were the first in the cloud to feature the AMD EPYC 7452 processor and offer up to 64 percent better SQL Server workload performance on Azure than the previous generation of E.HBv2 VM series VMs: Powered by the AMD EPYC 7742 CPU, these VMs are purpose-built for high-performance computing workloads such as CFDs, explicit finite element analysis, seismic processing, reservoir modeling, rendering, and more. Recently, Azure announced that on a series of HPC benchmarks, the VM HBv2 eclipsed 80, 000 cores for scalability of the message passing interface, providing high-performance supercomputing levels in the cloud. NVv4 VM: Powered by AMD CPU Second generation EPYC and AMD Radeon Instinct MI25 GPU, NVv4 offers a modern desktop and cloud workstation experience. The Single Root I / O Virtualization (SR-IOV) -based GPU partition offers four resource-balanced configuration options, from one eighth to a full GPU, to deliver a flexible, virtualization-enabled virtual desktop experience. GPU.Lsv2: The Lsv2 series is suitable for large data applications, SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehousing, and large transactional databases. Lsv2 virtual machines run on the AMD EPYC 7551 processor.
To learn more about this collaboration between the two companies, there is data on the AMD blog about this, which informs us about the joint work they have been doing for some time.
