The best applications for chromecast

Anonim

Not so long ago we were talking in the Professional Review about the Chromecast, a device made by Google that is no bigger than a thumb and that can be connected through an HDMI port to televisions with the aim of playing multimedia files. Well, today we bring you a summary of the best applications that we can use to get the most out of our Chromecast. Let's start:

Programs and applications that we can use thanks to this device:

- G oogle Play Music: it is an application used to transmit music from our Smartphone, pc or tablet to the Chromecast directly, where the television acts as a speaker. Pressing the Chromecast button in the Play Music application will start playback smoothly.

- Youtube: the YouTube application on IOS or Android allows us to transmit videos to the Chromecast. In addition, thanks to our Google account, we can easily create the playlist that interests us most, either from the website or from the application itself, so that we can transmit it to Chromecast.

- Google Play Movies: thanks to Chromecast we can transmit the contents from our Android, Windows or Mac device directly to the television, by pressing a button again.

- Content from our device: the Chromecast does not yet have the power to play all the content from our terminals, however there are beta applications that allow local content to be transmitted to the Chromecast. For those who want to be aware of all the news in this regard, you can contact Koushik Dutta, Android developer, through the Google + social network.

- Rdio: Contains more than 20 million songs, which can be played through stations or instantly. We could say that it is our personal jukebox.

- Netflix: not belonging to Google (the only application so far), we need a streaming subscription with the Chromecast, in addition to its installation on our iOS / Android device. Once we have configured it, we can transmit any type of Netflix content to our Chromecast following very simple steps. Subscription to the application has a cost of about 8 dollars a month (5.80 euros).

- Chrome: thanks to Google Cast, an extension of Google Chrome, transfers from our computer are possible, so we are obliged to use the Chrome browser to contact the Chromecast.

- Local content of our computer: it is possible to transmit the information from our pc to the Chromecast in full, not as it happened with our Smartphone, which we could do especially. Through the Chrome browser and its Google Cast extension it is done as follows: first we open a new tab, from there we go to "File> Open file" and then select the file or files that we want to play on our television. Once this is done, we use the extension to send the tab to our Chromecast. You will notice that it works quite well, despite being only a workaround.

- Cast for Muzei: we are talking about a program in charge of alternating our wallpaper every certain time. Muzei has incredible wallpapers. We must not forget that for this we must have the original Muzei application for our device. We can find it available only for Android for free through Google Play.

- Gamecast: it is nothing more than, to put it in some way, a video-console in the old way. Using our Android device as a controller, we can enjoy retro games such as snake, tetris or pong, which offers us multiplayer mode. We can enjoy this application from Google Play for 1 euro.

- Cast Store: No more rummaging around and dizzy for the Store. Thanks to this tool we have grouped by categories infinity of applications, with a wide and careful aspect, it acts as a filter for the Google Play store. If we define this tool in 3 words we would say: Application Market. Only available for Android and free of charge from Google Play.

- MyCastScreen: simply used to select what will appear on the main Chromecast panel. It acts in a similar way to Class6ix, detecting our location to receive the most convenient information about maps, news, weather, etc. It can be ours for a cost of € 0.71.

- Photowall: we are talking about an application that turns our television into an interactive XXL photo frame. It allows us to share photographs, create collages with our best memories, etc. As a curiosity and a plus, it has the particularity of allowing us to “scribble” the photographs before exporting them to YouTube and so that everyone can appreciate our creations. This application created by Google can be ours at zero cost from Google Play and the App Store.

- Drawcast: it is nothing more than a very complete application that allows us to draw on our Android device to later reproduce it on our television. Thanks to its recent updates we can say that it is a multi-device app, so that several users can participate simultaneously in a common drawing Its free version offers us 3 different colors, although if we want to get the full range of colors (27 different) We will have to face a payment slightly higher than the euro. We are definitely talking about a tough competitor for the Photowall.

WE RECOMMEND YOU Netflix experiment with cheaper plans for Asia

- P layTo: is an application used to play via streaming. It allows us to send videos to our television compatible with portals such as Vimeo, Muzu TV, NBC, Daily Motion, etc. Another application worth mentioning in passing is Web Video Caster, whose streaming focuses on multimedia content from Instagram, Vine or Vimeo. Both apps are available for free on Google Play.

- Class6ix: As we mentioned before with the MyCastScreen, this app takes advantage of our status to reproduce news on CNN, AP and other online media on television, in addition to being able to consult the weather report. We are talking about another free application.

- Castpad: tool that turns our television screen into a whiteboard, which must be painted through our Smartphone. It can be used for some type of hanging game, chained words… or perhaps to do some mathematical operation, in conclusion, many playful activities. This curious app can be ours for free by downloading it from Google Play.

- Plex: another multimedia content manager that allows us to stream from the application and directly to the Google dongle without the need for a Premium account, as previously required. From this moment on, users can quickly and easily transfer a video file to the screen from the library without having to pay monthly for the Plex Pass. New functions are also included, such as mirror mode, which allows us to also see the menus with the synopsis of the movies, as well as the option of random playback of our favorite music (from the web and on iOS). Premium users with an iOS account also have another exclusivity, that of making backup copies of photos from iOS 7 to their bookstore.

And well, so far our review of the most popular Chromecast applications, which can be found on its official page for only 35 euros (VAT included).

Compatible with Android 2.3 or later and IOS 6 or later, as well as Chrome for Mac, Windows and Chromebook with Wi-Fi.
