We all know that AMD has plans to launch a new Ryzen line next year, a new series of processors that will come with a 12nm manufacturing process. Apparently all the motherboard machinery is working overtime to be able to support the new Ryzen 2 chips with AMD 400, the new motherboards with socket AM4 that will replace the AMD 300 series.

Ryzen 2 will also come with new AMD 400 motherboards

The new Ryzen 2s come with several design improvements over existing AMD Ryzen series products. While these new products aren't expected to be AMD's next big architectural leap, Zen 2, this update is expected to still offer some significant benefits over its first generation, with higher frequencies and lower power consumption.

Ryzen 2 processors are expected to work without major problems on current AMD4 motherboards. What we do not know at this time, is which will be the best that the AMD 400 chipsets will bring.

Listed in PCI-SIG

Now AMD's 400 series Promontary chipset has made the PCI-SIG list, confirming the existence of the next generation of AMD AM4 motherboards.

AMD would be following a similar route to Intel's with Kaby-Lake, offering an upgrade of its current Ryzen, with higher frequencies, better single-wire performance, lower power consumption and the use of higher speed DDR4 memories.

Ryzen 2 will launch on the market in March 2018.
