Current amd graphics cards don't support all dx 12 features, geforce gtx 900 does
AMD has confirmed that its graphics cards based on the GCN architecture that are on the market or have been in the past do not offer compatibility with all the features of Microsoft's DirectX 12 API, a situation very different from that of Nvidia and its series. GeForce GTX 900 that does offer compatibility with all the features of the new Microsoft API.
Thus, the AMD graphics cards with greater compatibility with DX 12 would be the Radeon HD 7790, the Radeon R7 260 / 260X, the Radeon R9 285 and the Radeon R9 290 / 290X. All of them are compatible with DirectX 12 level 12_0. The rest of the Radeon HD 7000 and Radeon R200 series cards comply with DX12 level 11_1.
It is important to note that the degree of compatibility of the Radeon R300 series and especially of the Radeon Fury is not known.
From Nvidia we have the GeForce GTX 900 series that has the highest DirectX 12 compatibility by supporting level 12_1. The rest of the Nvidia cards with Fermi architecture (GTX 400 and GTX 500), Kepler (GTX 600 and GTX 700) and Maxwell (GTX 750 and GTX 750Ti) offer compatibility with only DirectX 12 level 11_1.
Now we just have to wait to see how the DirectX 12 features are implemented in video games and if the graphics cards with the highest degree of compatibility manage to obtain a substantial advantage over the rest.
