Lenovo presents the new generation of the thinkpad x1 yoga convertible

Lenovo has announced at CES 2019 the new generation of its ThinkPad X1 Yoga business-class convertible notebooks , which promise great improvements in features and construction. Let's go see them.

Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2019: slimmer body and 4K HDR display

We start by talking about the aluminum chassis of these laptops, which becomes thinner with a reduction of about 2mm (15.2mm vs. 17.05mm), in addition to a radically lower weight, more specifically 1.35 kilograms, a really low figure. The company is also talking about a 17% reduction in device size due to reduced frames.

Regarding its performance, we will have eighth generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors accompanied by 8 or 16GB of RAM and a PCIe SSD in capacities of up to 2TB. Connectivity will be provided by improved Wifi + Bluetooth, an optional 4G + modem (LTE-A), two Thunderbolt 3 ports, USB 3.0 connectors, Gigabit Ethernet (with a dongle), HDMI output, TRRS audio connector, etc.

Also noteworthy is the use of a Dolby Atmos speaker system, several long-range microphones, and a 720p webcam that can be covered with the integrated "Lenovo ThinkShutter".

We finish by talking about the screen, which stands out for incorporating as a maximum option a 14-inch 4K Ultra HD premium panel with a brightness of no less than 500 nits and Dolby Vision HDR support. We can also choose a Full HD panel with brightness of 400 nits and a ThinkPad Privacy Guard privacy filter that blocks viewing angles. Ultimately, the input models panel will be a Full HD with 300 nits of brightness.

The high-end panels will be predictably IPS, but we do not know if, in contrast, they will use a TN.

This series of laptops will be on the market in several months, more specifically back in June 2019. Its initial price will be a high $ 1, 929.
