The LG G6 begins to arrive in stores and this is quite an event, since the new LG phone brings some innovations that are being overlooked by the bulk of the public, which make it a pioneer in the mobile phone sector.
Everything you need to know about the LG G6
The LG G6 is one of the first phones to have almost no borders or bezels and has an unprecedented aspect ratio so far of 18: 9, which will surely be imitated by other manufacturers in no time. It is also the first non-Google mobile to implement Google Assistant.
We are going to review 7 details of this new phone that you should know before buying it.
1 - There are two models
There are two LG G6 that are being marketed, one model for the United States and one for the international market. The model for the Yankee territory arrives on April 7 and has 32GB of internal space with Qi wireless charging. Also, this model lacks the Quad DAC sound system.
The international model has 64GB of space and if it comes with the Quad DAC high definition sound system, on the contrary, it comes without wireless charging.
2 - IPS LCD screen with high brightness
It is surprising that the screen is not Super AMOLED but IPS LCD. Despite this, the media highlights its high level of brightness of up to 600 nits, which is not common to see on the screen of this type.
3 - Different types of Gorilla Glass protection
It's funny how LG uses different versions of Gorilla Glass depending on the parts of the phone. The display uses Gorilla Glass 3, while the back combines metal and glass with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Gorilla Glass 4 protection was used for the dual camera, so three different technologies are combined.
Equally we find it curious that the screen uses Gorilla Glass 3 instead of 5, which is the most advanced, especially for a phone that cost in Spain between 700-750 euros.
4 - 5.7 inch 18: 9 screen
As we anticipated at the beginning, the LG G6 is the first phone with an aspect ratio of 18: 9. The screen is wider and this benefits multitasking and split screen. A new standard may start with this type of display.
5 - Double camera much improved compared to LG G5
One of the biggest flaws with the LG G5's dual camera was that they both didn't have the same resolution, so there was a loss of quality in wide-angle image captures. With the LG G6 both lenses will now have a maximum resolution of 13 megapixels, making wide-angle shots look much cooler now.
6 - HDR and Dolby Vision
The LG G6 is compatible with HDR and Dolby Vision technology, to appreciate that 10-bit color content that cannot be noticed on a conventional screen. This is one of the great assets of this LG phone.
7 - A more customizable Android phone
We know that LG usually personalizes Android on their phones to provide it with greater personalization options. With the LG G6 and Android 7.0 Nougat, that capacity will go a little further. Furthermore, it is the first 'non-Google' phone to implement Google Assistant.
Let's review its main characteristics:
- Display: 5.7-inch FullVision Display Aspect ratio: 18: 9 Resolution: 2880 x 1440 pixels (QHD +) Processor: Snapdragon 821 (2.35GHz) RAM: 4GBGPU: Adreno 530 Storage: 32GB (64GB in some Asian countries) MicroSD slot: Yes 3, 300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0
These were some of the reasons why it is worth waiting for the LG G6, which in Spain should cost between 700 and 750 euros.
