Libra: facebook cryptocurrency is finally official

After weeks of rumors, Libra is now official. Facebook presents its cryptocurrency officially, which will be officially launched in early 2020. This currency is launched thinking of making simple transactions, such as payments in establishments or sending money to your friends and family. It is designed so that users who also live in developing areas, where they do not have a bank account, can use it.

In addition, it will be officially integrated into WhatsApp and Messenger. Money can be sent in both apps, thanks to Calibra, which will be a kind of digital wallet, where you can carry out operations.

Libra comes to the market with the support of many companies, such as PayPal, Spotify or Visa, among others. So it is something that many see with sufficient potential. The idea is that from your account in one of these apps, or by also downloading Calibra, you can make payments or send money. In certain operations there are costs, such as shipments above a certain amount of money.

Although until it is launched, you have to wait, since from Facebook they confirm that it will be in the first half of 2020. The integration in applications like Messenger and WhatsaApp will also happen next year. No specific dates in either case.

It is not ruled out that over time more services will be offered in Libra. Although at the moment it will be used to send money between individuals and make payments in establishments.
