LibreOffice is a free and open source office suite developed by The Document Foundation. This LibreOffice application was quietly published in the Microsoft Store by a developer account called “.net” on July 7, allowing it to be installed for free or purchased for $ 2.99. The store description implies that this money will go to the developers of The Document Foundation in order to continue improving the product.

If this was not published by The Document Foundation, it is clearly misleading since users can buy the program thinking that they are donating for the development of the LibreOffice application, but in reality they are giving money to an unaffiliated third party.
Bleeping Computer has contacted The Document Foundation to confirm whether this application was published by their organization. They have received a response saying that they will analyze the facts. We should have news soon. The Document Foundation has never asked users for money, so it is rather strange to think that they have started to do so now with the arrival of their application in the Windows 10 Store.
